BEAU’S BAKEHOUSE

Baking runs in the family for Jacqui Cowper-Smith, whose grandmother, Beau, had her own Cake Kitchen in New Zealand in the 1920s. When Jacqui established Beau’s Bakehouse in Frampton-on-Severn, it was in homage to her grandmother and her baking recipes.

At the bakehouse, Jacqui and her team prioritise freshness, producing cakes and bakes that are ‘never long out of the oven’. This is achieved by small batch cooking, using ingredients that are as locally sourced and as fresh as possible.

Jacqui’s bakes are all made by hand, giving them an unmistakable home-made quality and texture. Whether it’s sticky ginger, lemon and poppy seed, banana crumble or chocolate fudge, their loaf cakes are all deliciously moist, whilst their tray bakes – millionaire’s shortbread, brownies, flapjacks – are all satisfyingly crisp and gooey in the right places.

In addition to their delicious range of cakes, the bakehouse produces a range of biscuits as well as gluten free options, including an excellent gluten free orange, honey and almond cake.

Our favourite: Jacqui’s classic caramel shortcake has a buttery base accompanied by hand-stirred caramel and topped with an indulgent, thick layer of Belgian chocolate.
