BEWDLEY BREWERY
Established in 2008, Bewdley Brewery sits in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside alongside the River Severn. The last brewery in Bewdley closed its doors over a hundred years ago, in 1912, where brewer William Mucklow was famous for brewing the second strongest ‘mild’ beer in the country at a staggering 6%!
Today, Bewdley Brewery is run by a group of ale-makers who are passionate about creating a variety of beers for many people to enjoy. There are over 11 regular beers with a number of specials and seasonal ales available at different times of the year. The beers are brewed on a 10-barrel plant, which produces 2880 pints per brew. The brewery has capacity to brew four times a week, resulting in over half a million pints a year!
As well as a variety of ales, the brewery has created its first lager, Laxford Lager, using the finest Pilsner Malt from Germany. For a taste of the past, William Mucklow’s Dark Mild, a sweetish, strong ale with fruity flavour and a slight liquorice aftertaste, is a nod to Bewdley’s famous 20th century brewer!
