GLOUCESTER BREWERY

When Jared Brown founded Gloucester Brewery in 2011 in one of Gloucester’s iconic quayside docks, he had two aims - to make great beer and to make it sustainably. He and his team have certainly achieved these aims, with a range of multi-award-winning beers under their belt. In fact, in 2019, pre-covid, the brewery’s Imperial Stout not only won its own category of mid to dark beers, but it also won Overall Champion at the SIBA National Independent Beer Awards.

Gloucester Brewery is also well on the way to achieving its second aim of sustainable brewing. Sustainability measures include using energy that is from renewable sources, recycling spent hops into animal feed, partnering with TREEAPP to support reforestation projects across the globe, using recyclable packaging and converting all bottles to cans. By 2022, the brewery is aiming to be completely carbon neutral.

As well as brewing excellent beers, in 2020 the brewery created a range of gins and vodkas, called Fox’s Kiln, named after the Victorian malthouse where the brewery is based.
