WOW! THE FLOOD DEFENCES WORKED!

We are so pleased to see how vital the floodgates are in keeping our site dry and safe during the recent floods in Upton-upon-Severn!

Although the store and forecourt had to close due to the Hanley Road flooding, preventing access, some of our dedicated team donned their wellies to paddle through the flood water and get into the store.

Of course being closed meant that we had rather a lot of stock that was potentially going to end up in the bin as it wasn’t able to be sold. However, the team worked hard, and made many trips through the flood water, resulting in hundreds of pounds of stock being donated to Upton Community Fridge.

The Upton Community Fridge aims not to let any food to go to waste, meaning that anyone in Upton can visit the fridge and fill a bag with some goodies! Amy Wearing and her group of volunteers at Upton Baptist Church also ensure that any families or individuals in Upton who maybe struggling with affording fresh food are prioritised and receive the support they need.

A massive thank you must go to all our team who worked so hard to ensure that all the food could be donated safely!
