PEGOTY HEDGE

‘Passion, provenance, patience and pride’ – these are the sort of qualities you’d want to find in your everyday meal, and thankfully they are the very qualities that go into the fantastic chilled organic meals from Pegoty Hedge.

The idea to create quality ready meals was born in 2008 by the Surman family, who have been working on their Worcestershire farm for four generations. Prepared by hand in small batches, the meals contain fresh, organic and locally sourced ingredients, with particular attention to detail – the sauces are all made from scratch and the characteristic forked patterns on the cottage pie are painstakingly done by hand.

The recipes have been used in the Surman farmhouse for many years, feeding and nourishing the next generation of farmers. It is these recipes that are still used today in the Pegoty Hedge range of chilled meals.

The farm itself, bordering the River Severn at Upton, is a mixed organic farm, and much of the produce grown there is used in the meals themselves, from potatoes to poultry to native British beef. The farm is run sustainably, which means solar panels for electricity and a bio-mass boiler to heat everything for the Pegoty Hedge kitchen facilities. The packaging for the meals is also made from recycled materials and is full recyclable itself.
