WILCE’S CIDER

Heralding from the heart of cider country in Ledbury, the Wilce family has been making cider for six generations. Back in the day, the Wilce ancestors made cider simply for pleasure, but their passion and skill for blending real Herefordshire cider has been passed down through the family and can be tasted in every bottle of Wilce’s Cider that is made today.

The apples that go into Wilce’s Cider are all grown within four miles of the family’s specimen orchards that contain 34 varieties of genuine cider apple trees. This commitment to provenance has earned Wilce’s Cider a European Protected Geographical Indicator label.

The apples are all hand-picked, washed and pressed on site and after six months the cider is blended by master cider maker Brian Wilce. Nothing is added apart from a little sugar for the sweeter blends and there are no added sulphites, yeast, water or chemicals. Carbonated water is added to the bottled ciders while the still ciders are sold in their natural uncarbonated state in bag-in-boxes.

With 34 varieties of cider apples to choose from, it is the skill of the cider maker to expertly blend the ciders by taste to create the final product. As well as traditional draught and bottled cider, Wilces has a range of apple juice and cider vinegar.
