LAUNCHING OUR BRAND NEW COMMUNITY DEFIBRILLATOR

Warner’s Supermarket in Upton-upon-Severn has launched a life-saving public access defibrillator that has been installed and funded with help from County Councillor Martin Allen. The defibrillator,  located close to the front entrance to the store, was launched on Wednesday the 25th of January by Warner’s store manager Jack Cross and County Councillor Martin Allen.

Warner’s raised money for the defibrillator through their Community Savings Scheme, which gives customers the opportunity to donate a community token to their chosen charity every time they shop. Every six months Warner’s turns the tokens into cash and presents it to the local group or charity. On this occasion Warner’s worked with Martin Allen to jointly fund the defibrillator.

Store Manager Jack Cross said, “I’m so pleased, that we’ve been able to install the defibrillator at our store for members of the Upton-upon-Severn community to access. We are looking forward to many members of our store team attending life-saving training with Heartstart Malvern over the next few weeks, as well as being able to offer members of the community training later in the year. We are really grateful to Martin Allen for his support which has enabled us to get the defibrillator up and running.”

County Councillor Martin Allen, who represents the residents of Upton said “I am thrilled that Warners are looking out for their community.  I understand the newly installed Defib has already been out of the box on a live incident, this shows how urgently it was needed. Finding the money to part fund this important lifesaving unit was something I took very seriously, and I am delighted to see it here in situ today.  I understand that Warners will be running a training session for members of our community, I have already asked for my name to be added to the list.  Well done Warners!”
