The Severn Area Rescue Association (or SARA), is a volunteer lifeboat and inland search rescue charity which operates to provide invaluable services, saving lives each year.
We think they are a very deserving recipient of the proceeds of the raffle from our recent Taste Club Festival Seasonal Dinner, held at a local pub – the Yorkshire Grey. However, when we invited members of SARA to visit the store so we could present them with their prizes, we didn’t expect to be meeting ‘Cardboard Dave’! Thanks to the generosity of the Taste Club members, ‘Real’ Dave was able to accept a cheque for £180 that was raised from the dinner raffle.
It costs around £1000 to kit out a SARA volunteer with a dry suit, helmets, boots and other equipment they need to keep us all safe on land and on the river, so we were pleased to be able to do a little bit to help.
‘Cardboard Dave’ has decided to stay at the store for a bit, so please feel to put some cash in his collecting pot if you are able to, or grab a selfie with him and share on our social media!
